Deadbeat Dads in Florida
There are a lot of deadbeat dads in Florida. Tom is one of them. His story is like that of many other deadbeat dads. He never thought that he would end up to be one of the deadbeat dads in Florida when he and his wife split a few years ago.
Tom married a woman with two kids. Their dad was dead so Tom adopted them. The kids never really took to Tom, despite the fact that he was supporting them and loved him as his own. And his wife never really got over losing her husband. She constantly compared Tom to her dead husband and there were pictures of him all over the house. This type of behavior was the start of what led Tom to become one of the deadbeat dads in Florida.
Things in the marriage went sour pretty quickly. After a year, Tom's wife filed for divorce. She said that she just couldn't live with him anymore and missed her husband. The kids were actually happy when Tom was moving out, but his heart was broken.
He was surprised to find that he owed child support for the two kids that amounted to 28 percent of his paycheck. Tom never made much money, but his wife had money from her husband's life insurance. Although he could not afford to pay and she had money, the court did not care. He was ordered to pay child support. They took it out of his check automatically. His ex-wife never wanted him to see the kids and they refused to go with him on outings. He was unable to make a living and decided to take off for the warm weather of Florida. That is how he started becoming one of the deadbeat dads in Florida.
He found that Florida, although sunny, was not hiring for his field. He took a job as a waiter and sent what he could. Then, he just stopped sending money. He never heard from her so he figured it was fine. Besides, he was in Florida and she was in Michigan. The kids never liked him and they were not married that long to form an attachment.
Before he knew it, Tom was one of the deadbeat dads in Florida. He was contacted by a service to locate a deadbeat dad and was told to pay up. He owed a lot of back child support and couldn't pay. The agency was relentless and said they would seek jail for him if he didn't pay. He got scared and sold everything he owned to pay. Then he lost his job. Scared, he began to live on the beach. He was afraid of his ex-wife finding him so he stopped working. Tom remains one of the deadbeat dads in Florida today.
